When someone can capture the love of Jesus in a practical and relatable way, I listen up!
Rachel Mullin has this gift and writes with much elegance and grace. And so much authenticity.
After reading some of her amazing posts come through on her Facebook page, Live in Love!, I wanted to share her with the Patches of Blue tribe.

Didn’t see that coming!
This morning began with it’s normal organized chaos serenaded by grumpy children. At the bus stop, Phoenix realized he forgot his lunch box, and things took a turn for the worst. His meltdown was loud, embarrassing, full of tears, anger, confusion and disappointment. He doesn’t handle disruption of routine, or unexpected mishaps very well. Reason with him is of no help; trust me, I’ve tried and only end up adding gasoline to the fire of a never-ending argument.
Never missing an opportunity, the degrading lies began. ‘Your failing as a mother.’ Today, I chose not to listen and cried out ‘Jesus I need you!’ In between Phoenix’s cries for help and my irritated pleases for him to be quiet, a still small voice said, “Love him.” I swooped up my big boy onto my lap and hugged him tight, praying over him, loving him despite of his behavior. Within seconds I couldn’t feel him relax in my arms and start to breath deep. Phoenix was comforted and his meltdown was finally over. Savannah looked at me and said, “Didn’t see that coming.” What a sight we must have been.
So many times we find ourselves in our own meltdowns, we can’t see God cause we are blinded by fear, lies and selfishness. But God is there through all our tears and hurt, He knows (Psalm 56:8). Satan never misses an opportunity to ruin a child of God, and if we chose to believe his lies or give into fear, troubles we ‘didnt see coming’ can cause major damage. Isn’t wonderful that our God is compassionate(Exodus 22:27)? Our God is there for us ALWAYS! He is just a cry away. When we cry for help…as soon as He hears, He will answer us(Isaiah 30:19). And just as he guided me to do this morning with Phoenix, He will wrap us in His love despite of our troubles, or behaviors, because He loves us!
So next time you find yourself in a little bit or a complete meltdown because of something you didn’t see coming, I encourage you to cry out to our compassionate God and let him love you through it!!
Have a blessed day!
Live in Love!
You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.
When they cries out to me, I will hear…for I am compassionate
People of Zion, who live in Jerusalem, you will weep no more. How gracious He will be when you cry for help! As soon as He hears, He will answer you.
I asked Rachel to share a small blurb about herself and here is what she said.
“A wild youth, broken marriage, and a wounded heart, left me damaged, broken, and hurting. Struggling with depression, suicide, and addiction, I turned to Jesus. The realization of how much he loves me, and the healing only He can give, has brought me into a new season of hope, joy and His peace. As a single mother of four small children still learning to to live in God’s love, life can be hard sometimes, but my hope lies in Jesus. Today I am a beloved daughter of the living King, living in His love. Live in Love!”
