2 Corinthians 13: 11-14

Final Greetings

11 Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice! Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.

12 Greet one another with a holy kiss. 13 All God’s people here send their greetings.

14 May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

NIV: 11 Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice! Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you. NKJ: Finally, brethren, farewell. Become complete. Be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you. Become complete. Strive for full restoration. Looking at the different translations helps breaks down things for me sometimes. Striving for full restoration gives me some direction on how to become complete. strive verb \ˈstrīv \ strove\ˈstrōv \ also strived\ˈstrīvd \;… Read more »

Strive for full restoration. That word strive jumped out. I was told exactly not to strive, maybe for me not to worry or fret while believing and being obedient to the Lord in my part of restoring relationships. I love this verse.

Something I just thought about is striving toward full restoration is probably different than striving for something that isn’t of God. That striving is exhausting. Maybe it is a matter of knowing His voice to attain the type of striving in this verse?

I Praying these verses on all 3 of our lives!!! It is a really great thing for me to focus on right now!!! Hoping and Praying I can pull out of what ever made feel so sick the last couple of days!!! I think it is important to read this remembering Paul is speaking to the Corinthians, who didn’t always work toward their salvation…we need to do our part and trust God for the rest (that would NOT be striving as we normally use it). Being obedient even when it does not make sense to us- just do it 🙂 I think the ending confirms this: b. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. This is the only place in the New Testament where the Father,… Read more »

I understand what all of you are saying about striving, however, for me, I need to know that I do have a part that I can be completely devoted to. The word “striving” gives me a sense of partnership. I love this verse because it tells me that I can partner and believe that there CAN BE restoration. Balance is needed for everything we do, especially with words like “striving”. Even the receiving of our own Promised Land takes striving in a fight… and lots of faith.
