Wake From Your Sleep by Barbara Alleway

Have you ever felt like you’ve been sleeping when it comes to your walk with the Lord? Have you heard the voice of God tell you to walk in a specific direction, but you’ve made a U-turn instead?  If so, you are not alone.

Recently I found myself questioning my walk with the Lord and whether or not I truly was hearing His voice. After much prayer and contemplation, I realized that I heard His voice, the question was whether or not I was listening and completing the task.

I found myself taking steps to deepen my relationship with Christ through prayer and reading the Word; however, I did not finish the final steps He was asking me to take. The Bible says, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart ‘ -Jeremiah 29:13

I definitely seek the Lord. I love him with all my heart, and I have found the Lord as I seek him. He begins to reveal Himself to me as He whispers to my soul.  But do I listen … do you?

Scripture says “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the Word of Christ - Romans 29:13

It is through reading the Word of God and hearing the Word of Christ that faith comes to us. This seems logical. As the Word penetrates our inner being, it begins to breathe life into us. An interactive exchange occurs between ourselves and God, the Father. John 10:27 says,” My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. “

Isn’t it comforting to know that God confirms that we hear His voice as we seek Him and that He knows ours … “and they follow me…”

I am embarrassed to say that I follow Him part of the way but, I don’t always go the distance, do you?  If not, why? What is holding you back? Recently I read this scripture, “Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you? “ - Luke 6:46.

It made me stop and reflect on the reasons I might not be following Him the whole distance. I don’t mean to sound like I don’t follow the Lord, but there are times that I stop short of what He is asking. Maybe it is too time-consuming or too far out of my comfort zone. Or maybe fear sets in, and I allow lies to hinder me. Whatever my excuses, I’ve recently realized I can no longer run from what God is asking of me to have a loving, respectful two-way relationship with Him. I need to trust Him and do what He is asking of me. I think that newfound strength also comes from knowing that as a daughter of the King, He goes ahead of me (and you) to prepare the way. He will not leave or forsake us in the journey that He is asking us to walk.

On 3/25/20, six days after California went on mandatory lockdown for Covid-19, I was awoken at 4:00 am and received the following message.

Wake Up From Your Sleep

Received on 3/25/20 4:00 am. San Marcos, CA

Wake up from your deep sleep do you not know who you are? You are a general in my army. Rise Up, Rise Up, and remember who I AM. I AM the King of Kings, the great Redeemer, Holy of Holy, God of Miracles, Creator of all things. I AM the Alpha and the Omega. I reign on earth as it is in heaven. Rise Up daughters you are an army of Christ that is being called up for a time such as this. Put on your armor and prepare yourself for battle. Remember your sword is the Word of God, my Word. And it will help to set the captives free. More importantly, remember I am the King of Kings and through me all things are possible. Do not fear because the Lord your God goes with you. I am in front of you to the side and behind you.

You do not have to strive or speak in tongues, just remember you are no longer double-minded swaying back and forth in the sea. Cast your eyes upon me ... Jesus, God the Father, Holy Spirit. And walk with me. Do not look to the right or left. Look straight ahead for the battle is ahead of you. Stand firm. I breathe new breath over you and your families. You received healing for all of your family. Look to the cross. I am the North Star. Look to the cross it should be your only focus. Go tell it on the mountain that Jesus Christ is born. I died on the cross for you and your family but not just for your family ... for all families. I tell you again … go tell it on the mountain. You are no longer bound. You are generals. Step in line.

It is now 8/16/20, and I have to confess I have not fully stepped into what God has asked. The good news is He waits patiently and continues to call us. I am willing to follow Him and do what He asks of me. It has taken me a while, but I am ready.  Are you?

Is there something God is asking of you? What is He calling you to? Your time has arrived. He has appointed this time for you to allow Him to use you. Remember He is a loving father. You are a warrior for His kingdom.
