A Heart That’s Singed
As chapter 36 of the book of Jeremiah begins, our Lord has told Jeremiah to "get a scroll and write down all of His messages against Israel, Judah, and the other nations" . For whatever reason, Jeremiah sent for Baruch to do the actual writing.
Once they were finished, Baruch read the words of the Lord at the Lord’s Temple. King Jehoiakim wanted Jehudi to get the scroll and read it to him. King Jehoiakim thought he would get rid of all the Lord’s messages by throwing the scroll into a fire.
The King should not have underestimated our Lord.
He asked Jeremiah to take another scroll and dictate again everything that had been on the scroll King Jehoiakim had burned in the fire. Only this time he added much more!
There are non-Christians today who try to get rid of the Lord’s word by burning stacks of bibles or Church Buildings . If you study the Lord's word enough and have it singed on your heart then no one can ever completely take the word from you.
Jeremiah 36:32 NLT
So Jeremiah took another scroll and dictated again to his secretary, Baruch. He wrote everything that had been on the scroll King Jehoiakim had burned in the fire. Only this time he added much more!
