Treasures
In this parable that Jesus is telling, this man has acquired so much grain that he didn’t know where he was going to store all of it. He decides to tear down his barns to build bigger ones. I know I have been guilty of storing up treasures here on earth. Buying the latest gadgets or too many pairs of shoes in my closet. I used to buy designer clothes. But in Matthew 6:19 (NIV) it says “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal". In Luke 12:34 (NIV) it reads "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also".
Today my treasures and my heart lie in Jesus.
'And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’ “Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain. '
