We Shall Thirst No More
It is scorching hot in the desert. There is no water to be found. Moses and the Israelites are parched. God tells Moses to strike the rock, and he does so. Water comes flooding out of it. They drink until they are no longer thirsty, for the time being.
In John 7:38 of the New Testament, Jesus is with the woman at the well. He tells her, "Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” (NIV)
Jesus, the rock of salvation was struck many times and then died on a cross, and arose to become the living water. Those that seek the living water will never thirst again.
Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock in Horeb. You shall strike the rock, and water will come out of it, that the people may drink.” Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.
